[Lima Nippo], (Lima, Peru)

Rima Nippō Masthead

The Rima Nippō (Lima Nippo) was born in Lima in 1929 out of a three-way merger among the Andesu Jihō (Andes Jiho), the Dai Nanbeishi, which was renamed from the Perū Nichinichi Shinbun, and the Nippi Shinpō. However, the monopoly by the Rima Nippō did not last long since the Perū Jihō was published in the same year. The Japanese-language newspapers, including the Perū Hōchi, Rima Nippō, and Perū Jihō, were shut down after the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. Subsequently, many of the Japanese newspapermen were deported from Peru during WWII.
