The Fuzan Nippō was first published under an unknown title in Pusan, Korea in 1905 and was renamed to this title in 1908. The publisher was Masashi Akutagawa. The newspaper was known for its independent editorial. However, the Japanese Resident-General of Korea tightened up the press control starting from 1908. After Masashi Akutagawa’s death, the chairman changed to its large shareholder Gentarō Kashii in 1928. The Japanese Resident-General of Korea consolidated the Nansen Nippō and the Chōsen Jihō into the Fuzan Nippō, which became the only Japanese-language paper published in Pusan in 1941, serving to disseminate the national agenda of the Empire of Japan. The Allied Forces requisitioned the publisher in 1945.

『釜山日報』は韓国の釜山で1905年に別の新聞名で創刊され、1908年に『釜山日報』に改題された。発行者は芥川正、独立した論評で知られていた。しかし、統監府が1908年から言論統制を強めた。芥川正の死後、1928年に大株主、香椎源太郎が会長になった。1941年に統監府は『南鮮日報』と『朝鮮時報』を『釜山日報』に統合、『釜山日報』が釜山で唯一の日本語新聞となり、大日本帝国の国策紙としての役割を果たした。1945年に連合軍により接収された。
