Dairen Shinbun / 大連新聞 [The Dailen Shimbun], (Dalian, China)
The Dairen Shinbun was first published with capital raised by a group of business people in 1920. The publication further fueled the competitive landscape of the Japanese-language newspapers in Dalian with two existing publishers, the Manshū Nichinichi Shinbun, the South Manchuria Railway Co.’s organ paper, and the private Ryōtō Shinpō. The Manshū Nichinichi Shinbun merged with the Ryōtō Shinpō in 1927. The merged entity, called the Manshū Nippō dwarfed the Dairen Shinbun in terms of finance and reporting speed. In 1935, the Manshū Nippō acquired the Dairen Shinbun and was again renamed to Manshū Nichinichi Shinbun.
